"Dublin is a city that is really safe. Where I come from it's not always a good idea to walk places and especially not at night. Here you can walk to school, to the luas, or to the shopping centre and you know that nothing is going to happen to you. It gives you a lot of freedom to be able to walk places and ask people on the streets questions and feel safe doing it."

"I was scared about meeting my host family at first but as soon as I met them, I relaxed. They were so nice. It's amazing how naturally you fit in and you immediately feel at home. They invite me to do things with them just like I would do with my own family at home. They really make you feel like you are a part of the family." - Alejandra Acedo, Mexico

"I can 100% say my English has improved since I came here. At first I was shy about speaking English with the other girls because I thought that my English was very bad but since i'm the only German girl, I have to make a big effort to speak English all the time. Every day that goes by I feel my English improving."

"The thing about being an international is that you are in the same situation as all of the other girls so they understand how you are feeling. You make friends with them really quickly and easily and we always help one another. At first I thought that I wouldn't make any Irish friends as they all already know each other, but if you talk to them, they open up and they are really nice." - Martina Davare, Italy

"I love Dublin. It is a big city but at the same time it feels like a town. It is really homely and I love to go to the city centre and experience the Irish culture. The Irish people are so nice and they always try to look out for you and take care of you. Even the people you sit next to on the bus are nice!" - Anneliese Hoffman, USA

"I feel way more independent being here. I know that I have matured a lot and grown as a person because my family tell me that they have noticed it. Here I have to be proactive. I have to know when to do things instead of my mum telling me everything. I have also learned how to take care of my own money and budget myself." - Alejandra Sánchez, Spain
